Mosman Bay and Manly Beach

16 July 2008

Breakfast at Wharfy’s at Mosman Bay. Voted by LA Times as the “Best Breakfast in the World”, its unexpected location and unpretentious setting threw us off. Though not the best in our books, the scrambled eggs can beat many cafes. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict was yummilicious, although the eggs were over poached.

Its run by an Indonesian couple and Nasi Goreng was on the menu.

Extra large cookies - oh so tempting. Their homemade pineapple muffins, though not much to look at, were fluffy and moist.

Pretty flowers near the wharf.

We then drove to North Head and then to Manly for gelato and fish and chips lunch.

Growers’ Market

9 June 2008

After hitting the snooze button several times on Saturday morning, I decided the fine weather in the middle of this wet, wintery season should be taken advantage off. So I took my camera for a walk to the casino. Opposite the casino to be exact for the Growers’ Market. Its been a while since I last visited the market. Yummy smells, tasty food and lots of stalls to see.

Didn’t get good photos, so I’ll definitely be back for a second try.

My half eaten Figs & Brandy Mascarpone Tart from Consummate. Yummy but terribly expensive. Mmm…

Top 10 brekkie joints: Two Good Eggs

So this time I stuck to the scrambled eggs order and got it dead right. Plus, it came with house cured salmon. The eggs were just right - sweet, with a hint of saltiness and not too creamy. The salmon however was a little too salty.

Anyway, the place is small, but has that white cleanliness to it. I might venture a second visit, but I’ll definitely stick to the scrambled eggs. Especially since the omelette wasn’t to die for and their menu isn’t very extensive.

Top 10 brekkie joints: Le Petit Creme

28 May 2008

A few weeks back, I cleared my schedule to have breakfast at another Top 10. This is quite pathetic, I am only at #2.

This time it was a French cafe. I spared the feet and took a bus down, followed by a slow stroll down Darlinghurst.

I’ve learnt my lesson. I like scrambled eggs, therefore I should always order scrambled eggs. I ordered an omelette, which wasn’t too bad, but it didn’t feel like breakfast. Mmm, I can still taste the scrambled eggs at Mint Cafe.

Oh well. I’ll stick to the scrambled eggs formula. Or do the right thing and always order what people recommend.
